Abstract: | In this paper, factors influencing the demand (here as: d.) for a bass fishing (as: f-g.) trip taken in the southeastern U.S. using a hurdle negative binomial count data model are identified. In the 1st stage, the probability of f-g. is estimated, and in the 2nd stage, the f-g. trip frequency is estimated. Calculated elasticities indicate a highly inelastic d. for the number of f-g. trips as trip costs increase. However, the d. can be expected to increase if anglers experience a success measured by the number of caught fish or their size. |
