| Abstract: | The concepts of hierarchical production planning and flexible manufacturing systems have been developed for different production structures: batch production with rather continuous processes on the one hand and individual production with frequent changes of tasks on the other hand. As existing approaches to integrate these concepts are not sufficient, a new model is presented which emphasizes the equivalence of the aggregation of products and machines. The investigation into possible improvements of production planning for flexible manufacturing systems is left to a later implementation. |
