Abstract:In 1994, Pudong New Area's GDP rose by 28.6%, the exports of its foreign trade by 79% compared with last year. In that year, the newly increased foreign-funded enterprises were 1035 with a total investment of USD 3.81 billion and the contracted investment of USD 2.62 billion, up 12%, 21.9% and 51.4% respectively over last year. From April, 1990 to April, 1995, there were 2961 foreign-funded enterprises with a total investment of USD 11.8 billion and the contracted investment of USD 7.04 billion in Pudong New Area. Some overseas financial groups which expect that Shanghai would have prospects have already moved or are going to move their headquarters in China and in Asia from Hong kong to Shanghai.
