Abstract: | Many factors help to bring about the economic co-operation between Guangdong and Hong Kong. Among them, the main one is the result from the development of economic division of work between both areas. On the Hong Kong side, the vertical division of work between both areas has upgraded Hong Kong's manufacturing industry. On the Guangdong side, the growth of Hong Kong's economy has played a "transmitting " role, which has promoted greatly the development of Guangdong's economy. After Hong Kong's return in 1997, the economic co-operation between both areas will develop into a new level. This paper also expresses its opinion on the "industrial hollowness", a popular view in Hong Kong. People there think that the shrink of Hong Kong's manufacturing industry resulting from the move of Hong Kong's light processing industry. |
