Abstract:Hong Kong's "bubble economy" has led to the negative growth in the first quarter, tightened credit, tight money, sharply sliding stock market, housing market and tourism and the unemployment rate of 3.9%. According to forecast, more negative factors will still exist in the second half of the year. The second quarter will also see a negative economic growth with wider decrease range than the first quarter's. The third quarter will witness the narrowing decrease range under the influence of many measures taken by the Hong Kong government. But a positive economic growth will reappear in the fourth quarter if the external factors do not worsen sharply. Overall, Hong Kong's economy can take a turn for the better after adjustment in a period of time with many internal and external factors playing a supporting role and depending on improvement of Asian economic environment.
