Abstract: | For an R&D manager, spurring innovation in a large organization can be just like pushing a rope. Unless this manager aligns the innovation ambitions of R&D with the needs of the business, and agreement is reached with top management, frustration is inevitable. Company requirements for the product line R&D can include hardware as well as services, and can range from cost reductions, through line extensions and new products, all the way to the development of totally new products for new lines of business. Success depends upon maintaining awareness of events outside the company, and upon maintaining open communications, in all directions, throughout the organization. |
