Abstract:It is important for executives to understand that the typical daily problems call for a broad knowledge, open-mindness, an understanding of human nature, an insight into human frailties, a fairness of mind and a clarity of thought. These traits extend far beyond the skills and characteristics that ordinarily would be considered necessary to solve a complex business problem. Such qualities needed for leadership and decision making are, in fact, those most clearly developed through a liberal arts education.
