| Abstract: | Based on interviews of 33 Scottish home-based hospitality enterprise proprietors, this article investigates the occupational setting of the home from a gender dynamics perspective. These commercial hospitality enterprises dissipate the boundaries of home and business, and the findings of the study reveal that due to its strong links to traditional domestic labour, commercial hospitality is inherently engendered. Both male and female proprietors of home hosting enterprises are found to have conservative views of gender roles in the occupational setting of the business they run. |
