| Abstract: | Attention on industrial relations in the local government sector has traditionally been focused at the national level. It is argued that recent pressures on local authorities over the last decade have encouraged the development of a more sophisticated and dynamic form of workplace industrial relations. A number of key themes and issues related to dimensions of industrial relations at the authority level are identified including the scope for local bargaining, union, management and joint approaches, which are worthy of more detailed investigation. |
