Abstract:The notion of self-management has been used to signify different phenomena which cut across several disciplines, and which may have individual as well as organizational connotations. These include "self-management" as a particular way of dealing with a personal situation (e.g. self-management of diabetes); the idea of a worker-controlled organization of production formed as a reaction to central bureaucratic control etc.
