| Abstract: | The investment in fixed assets in Pudong New Area from Jan. to May 1997 was 12.202 billion yuan, up 61.4% over the same period of last year, accounting for 28% of the whole city's investment, which indicates its growth rate was a 50% higher than the whole city's. Among it, investment in capital construction was 6.841 billion yuan, up 64.8%; investment in the updating and transformation of equipment, 2.148 billion yan increase of near 1.1 times and investment in township collective projects, 0.146 billion, an increase of 1.1 times. The investment in the projects belonging to the New Area increased by a wide margin. The scale of investment in city's infrastructure facilities was large. Priority was given to the development of districts. Some pleasing progress had been made in carrying out the key projects. |
