Abstract:The economy of the central area in China began to rise in 1994. The proportion of the industrial output value of four provinces in this area to the whole country's fell from 13.2% to 12.2% from 1985 to 1990 but rose to 14.4% in 1996. The emergence of the economic development up surge has made the rate of industrial growth of China since the 1990s increase near two percentage points. However, as to whether they can achieve the development objectives set in the Ninth five-year Plan of the central area, in which its rates of economic and investment growth are all higher than the figures set in the State's plan, they need to consider the following restrictive factors: relatively low level of per unit area yield of farm products, gap between purchasing prices of farm products and those in the world market and difficulties in environmental protection.
