Abstract:In this study the authors examine why Finland started industrialisation phase later when compared with Sweden and the EU15 average. The authors trace Finland´s post-World War II catch up process and analyse the primary, secondary and tertiary-industries. The findings indicate that secondary production had its biggest impact on Finnish GDP growth later than in Sweden. In addition the labour productivitiy growth contribution from services was found to be essential for Finland´s catch up especially in 1965-1980.
