Abstract:Great changes have taken place in global foreign exchange market: volume of trade increases rapidly; U.S dollar is still the most active trading currency; traders are the most important main body. The trend that foreign exchange transactions focus on several minority countries will not change. The four large financial centers: Britain, the United States, Japan and Singapore, whose foreign exchange transactions account for 64%. In addition, swap became the foremost transaction mode. The role of electronic dealing has improved gradually, and the market proportion of electronic transaction increased to 11% in 1998 from 5% in 1995. In the medium sized foreign exchange markets, the degree of market centralization is higher. So does London foreign exchange market, the proportion of the top-ten traders increased from 44% in 1995 to 50% in 1998.
