Abstract:The purpose of this article is to study the entrepreneurial theory of the firm from the perspective of its treatment within the field of economics. Intentionally avoiding any discussion of antecedent study on the topic, the paper aims to find out why the concepts of entrepreneurship and the firm are generally kept apart. The article starts with a theoretical section based on economics and proceeds to an analysis of knowledge in economic systems. The problem of knowledge in economic systems is then related to human evolutionary history. The study suggests that no human brain is able to store capacity to reproduce the complexity of human environment, due to which people have to make do with the partial representations they construct. These construction processes are closely related to entrepreneurial activity - and also economic entrepreneurial activity.
