| Abstract: | This article aims i. to identify problems and dangers related with the operational use of internal performance measurement (henceforth as: pm.) systems (here as: pms.) of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) type and ii. to provide guidance on how pms. might be designed to resolve the problems. Norreklit's (2000) critique of the BSC is used and extended by applying the concepts developed therein to contemporary research on the BSC and to the development of practice in pm. |
