Abstract:This study examines the problem of company-community conflict in mining. The unfair distributions of risks, impacts, and benefits are the main cause of resource conflicts. The research focuses on the process of resource conflicts through an investigation of existing grievance-handling procedures where company-community conflict was present. The article argues that if the goal of global norms is that companies construct and perform grievance handling in ways that aim to act justly, then 'mechanisms-in-practice' have to be understood better and constructive criticism has to be allowed through all justice dimensions.
