Abstract:Recent political and economic changes have fundamentally reorganized the competition environment. Two factors have particularly determined this restructuring: the loss of the competitiveness of American companies due to the appearance of the Japanese and Korean industries, and the creation of the European Single Market. The major economic consequence of EC'92 will be manifested in the increased competition and lower prices. Companies have begun to adapt to the new political landscape by restructuring so as to dominate market share through the acquisition or mergers of leading brand names, by the creation of new institutional relations inside the company, and by transforming the lobbying.
