Abstract: | The performance appraisal may be the most crucial aspect of organizational life. Every company must know how well its people are performing, from the janitor to the top executive. One way to keep track of how appropriately appraisals are made is to chart them on a continuum. The far left of this continuum is characterized by opinion, gut feelings and beliefs. The far right is characterized by data, measurement and fact. The goal is to move from feelings to fact. If this can be accomplished, everyone receives the maximum benefit from the process. |
