Abstract: | There is a justified fear that the swelling tide of information will have a negative impact on managerial decisions. The increase in the flow of information from both inside and outside the enterprise has created a need for new methods both of distilling information and preparing decisions. There are now opportunities hitherto undreamed of, for using suitable methods to gather and distil information on the future. Nevertheless, in many enterprises the use of available instruments within the framework of strategic planning leaves much to be desired. The complexity of the corporate environment and sudden technological leaps in particular must be encountered with a wide range of methods. |
