Abstract:The REIT market has been pounded in recent months, creating what may be one of the best buying opportunities in the stock market today. It's been a rough road for investors in real estates investment trusts. from 1990 to the first quarter of 1994, REITs returned slightly less than the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index. then the going got worse. The reason for the decline in REIT prices is twofold: a glut of new issues and higher interest rates, which compete for investor attention.
