Abstract:In post-industrial countries, folk dance may be perceived as a perforamnce of a perceived tradition and representing values attached to an imagined past. The purpose of the study is to prove that the leisure context of the English Country Dance using the concept of performativity in terms of spatiality, style, consumption and gender, helped to resist the modern in a changing sociocultural environment.
