Abstract: | This research empirically examines the relationship between organizational (hereafter as: org-al.) characteristics (here as: chars.) and scientific research effectiveness. For the study, data were collected using the Organizational Culture Survey (by Glaser et al.,1987) measuring six org-al. chars. of the research environment. Org-al. chars. were analysed across a measure of departmental research performance. Based on the sample of research-active scientists (N=295) from 25 biological and chemical science university research departments, the results are found to support the hypothesis that specific chars. of the org-al. environment are related to research performance. |
