Abstract:Manchester is bidding to host the 2000 Olympics. Staging the games, including new venues, infrastructure and so on, will cost at least 1.2 billion Pounds. It would be the biggest opportunity for Manchester. It would create 3,500 permanent jobs. The bid committee promises to run the games at a profit: between 100-250 million Pounds. Then there is an additional tourist boost.
