Abstract:The telecottage concept was introduced into the UK in the late eighties by rural development specialists who had picked up the idea from Scandinavia. The first UK conference featuring telecottages was organized in 1989 by ACRE, the English Rural Community Charity. At that time only one telecottage located in a school in the Staffordshire Moorlands had been proposed. The Moorlands telecottage has since gone on to play a leading role in the development of a teleworking training course.
