| Abstract: | The purpose of the article is to show how Peirce, in deriving his definition of signs and in constructing his theory of logic or semiotic laid the foundation for a model of reasoning and representation which could conceivably have a bearing on contemporary work in artificial intelligence. The article focuses on the peculiar status of metaphore in Peirce's semiotic and on its relation tyo language and reasoning. |
