Abstract:The new Taiwanese banks face obstacles in some of the South-east Asian markets. The private banks have raced ahead, thanks to clever packaging and better services. Taiwan's 16 new private banks maintained their rapid pace of expansion in their third year, relying on creative packaging and better service in consumer lending and offering more favourable deposit and lending interest rates that their larger state-owned rivals. Marketing is the trick.
