Abstract:New Customs rules introduced in late 1995 promise to give foreign companies a valuable new tool to block the flow of counterfeit products through China's borders. The Regulations of the PRC on Customs Protection for Intellectual Property, promulgated in July 1995 by the State Coucil, and corresponding implementing measures issued in September by the General Administration off Customs (GAC) went into effect on October 1, 1995. The new regulations permit owners of registered trademarks, copyrights, aaand patents recorded with the GAC to seek Customs enforcement agains suspected infringements.
