Abstract:This article reports on findings from a research project investigating the changing work-family interdependencies from the point of view of twenty-five teleworkers and their families. Based on this empirical work the authors take issue with such unqualified claims and argue that teleworking in the first instance necessitates teleworkers and their families to negotiate and develop "coping strategies" so as to accommodate the simultaneous presence of "work" and "home", which the authors define as two distinct discursive environments. The authors argue that the very idea of working at home raises questions about the moral and social principles around "which living relationships are organized.
