| Abstract: | This study deals with the link btw. state-owned restructuring before privatization (here as: priv./privs.) and priv. sales prices for the telecommunications (here as: t-comm.) industry. New data is used to cover 84 t-comm. privs., accounting nearly for 80 precent of the sector in terms of value. Streamlining policies and regulatory (as: reg-y.) issues are focused on prior to priv. It is found that the presence of a reg-y. agency prior to priv. does impact on prices, especially if such an agency is set up well before the sale took place. |
