Abstract: | This article investigates the connection between credit availability and the amount of banking relationships in small and medium-sized Spanish firms by using panel data. The results imply rationing which appear as a substitution relation between trade and bank credit. The relationship between the level of indebtedness and the interest rate is also examined, and it suggests that firms working with fewer financial intermediaries have more financial constraints. |
