| Abstract: | This study focuses on business starters and their experience in credit rationing. The aim is to analyze which business founders apply for credit and which are refused. Entrepreneurs' commitment and signals concerning repayment and the potential success are argued to be the factors that affect most credit rationing. Based on a sample of 1140 possible business founders in Holland, the analysis confirms that commitments do matter in credit application and approval. However, the importance of signals stays unclear. |
