Abstract:Monitoring R&D teams' creative performance (henceforth as: cr-p.) as the key element of creating new knowledge is inherently difficult. There are indications that neither team managers (hereafter as: t-mgrs.) nor team members (here as: t-mbrs.) provide a sufficient introspection to evaluate the R&D team's cr-p. This contradiction is examined in 51 R&D teams by examining the t-mgrs.' and t-mbrs.' network position and their resulting performance evaluations. The t-mgrs. and t-mbrs. are found to evaluate the cr-p. of their R&D teams more negatively when the amount and variety of information supplied are insufficient. There are found no relevant differences btw. t-mgrs.' and t-mbrs.' evaluations or network positions.
