| Abstract: | This paper examines the decision support systems (DSS) area and concludes that the emergence of electronic markets, together with other advances in information and software technology, will have a strong impact on the DSS industry. Drawing on economic theory, the authors develop a new, more cost-effective and more flexible organizational design for the future DSS firm. In this paper, the authors try to reinvent DSS and propose an organizational design for a DSS intermediary, a new kind of DSS company operating in the electronic commerce sector. |
