Abstract: | This study discusses transaction cost economics is not equally appropriate for all types of firms in all businesses suggesting that firms with high market power may be able to lower transaction costs under high asset specficity and uncertainty in nonintegrated distribution channels. Hypotheses are tested through data collected from 40 manufacturers of electronic and telecommunication products. The results indicate that the basic transaction cost economics framework needs a market power costruct to explain forward channel integration decisions. |
