Abstract: | This paper examines the relative information content of accounting earnings, funds flow and cash flow data based on a sample of 48 UK companies over the period 1955-84. Empirical findings were consistent with the hypotheses that earnings data and cash and funds flow data contain value-relevant information that each of these datasets has incremental information content beyond the other. Some evidence that these findings are consistent with a positive association between estimated return response coefficients for accounting variables and estimated persistence measures" for these variables based on the dividend valuation model and a multivariate AR 1 forecast model is presented. |
