Abstract: | It is an important issue for academics and managers to understand how firms develop alliance (hereafter as: all.) capability and have better all. success (here as: all-scs). This paper shows that an all. learning (as: l-g.) process involving articulation, codification, sharing, and internalization of all. management knowhow is positively related to a firm's overall all-scs. It is suggested that a certain all. function (as: f-n.) is also positively related to a firm's all. l-g. process, and that process partly mediates the relationship btw. the all. f-n. and all-scs. found in prior work. This implies that the all. l-g. process acts as one of the main mechanisms through which the all. f-n. leads to greater all-scs. The paper extends prior all. research by taking a first step in opening up the 'black box' btw. the all. f-n. and a firm's all-scs. Survey data from a large sample of U.S.-based firms with their alliances is used to test theoretical arguments etc. |
