Abstract:How computers are being used to support strategic corporate planning is reviewed. The areas where computers now help in strategic corporate planning are: data acquisition; corporate financial planning systems; operational systems and financial planning systems in functional business areas; decisions for strategic corporate planning; expert knowledge-based systems. The tree critical areas to the development of expert knowledge-based systems are denoted as technology, exploration of how expert strategic planners think and do their jobs, and software development.
