| Abstract: | Many governments in Africa, notably Egypt, Ghana and Tanzania, are taking concrete action to secure their computer systems, something they view as critical to their industrializing economies. Many are, therefore, considering implementing computer security legislation. Kenya, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, for instance, have rather advanced computer infrastructure in the press, financial sector and some ministries. Under the laws they inherited from Britain, however, it is nearly impossible to successfully prosecute criminals. It is shown how African governments are making efforts to achieve both national and economic security. |
