Abstract:Personell officers have become human resource managers, striving to get the right people into the right jobs with the right support, trained to take the company into the future. Expectations about work in the West are changing. The population is better educated, and less willing to act as pure "factory fodder". This presents UK management with a number of challenges from the human resources perspective. A company's success is largely due to the people it employs; they are an invaluable resource. The challenges lie in exploiting that resource to its fullest potential.
