Abstract:The methods used to select managers in 73 British and 52 French companies are compared. The results are discussed in terms of cultural differences. In both countries large companies tend to use reliable and valid selection methods, though Britain seems to be considerably ahead in this respect. Methods such as psychological test, biodata, and assessment centres are being used more frequently, though interview remains dominant.
