Abstract:In regard to the issue of whether foreign exchange reserve is rational or not, there are two major reference factors for evaluation, that is, the quantity and quality of reserve. Since 1994, China's foreign exchange reserve has grown by leaps and bounds, as a result of which China has become one of the countries with the most foreign exchange reserve in the world. China's foreign exchange reserve, we can say, is very abundant as far as satisfying demand for payment. But according to the standards measuring its quality, which include the cost and stability of foreign exchange reserve and its use and efficiency, the quality of China's foreign exchange reserve is not high. It is estimated that China's foreign exchange reserve will continue to grow in a period of time in the future.
