Abstract: | The associations between interviewer and applicant behaviour during simulated employment interviews were examined in a laboratory experiment. As hypothesized, applicant self-esteem interviewer behaviour, and their interaction significantly affected applicants' verbal and nonverbal behaviour during interviews, as rated by independent judges. The finding that interviewer behaviour may have a causal effect on applicant behaviour during interviews has implications for the validity as well as the public relations component of interviews. |
