Abstract:Why do change programs most often fail to produce the sustainable, dramatic improvements that managers are hoping for? In their article, Tracy Goss, Richard Pascale, and Anthony Athos argue that many companies today don't need simply to change what is, they need to create what isn't. Managers in companies like British Airways, Eurocar, and Haagen-Dazs have understood that reinvention means confronting what can be the organization's most life-threatening problem: the hidden assumptions on which all decisions are based.
