Abstract:The world market of bicycles is examined. It is found that market is growing at a considerable pace due to mainly three factors: the cult of fitness, leisure and the protection of the environment. The different segments of the market and the different strategies of producers are analyzed. The most successful producers are American and Taivanese ones, the former due to their innovative marketing techniques, the latter due to their manufacturing technology. At the same time, traditional German producers are being sqeezed out of the markets, their sales production and exports decline.
