| Abstract: | Little has been written on how an organization can identify and exploit to the full its core competencies. Organizations do have to examine themselves closely in order to understand whence comes their competitive edge. Irvin and Michaels define core skills as those capabilities which the organizational as a whole has. These need to be understood as structural barriers crumble and companies in the same sector appear to follow similar strategies. |
