Abstract:Every business decision at Levi Strauss is driven by the company's aspirations statement, a document created in 1987 to formalize the company's values. A strong emphasis on valuing employees is at the core of the document because top management believes that people give the company its competitive edge. HR programs, ranging from flexible work hours for production employees to a new compensation plan linking pay to contributions and accountability, directly support efforts to improve the company's business systems, work processes and employees.
