Abstract:Humour is clearly a vital arrow in the manager's quiver. It is a means of chiding and chivvying, a weapon of attack and defence. The mere fact that certain individuals have reached the top without it and that it is not a manoeuvre in which everybody can engage, is not a reason to ignore its organizational role. The time has come for managerial writers to let humour out of the organizational closet.
