Abstract:Selling a service firm built by your own talents can be tricky. The solution is to prepare for such a sale from the very beginning. Downsizing? Rightsizing? Whatever the term used, the realization that jobs are disappearing has clearly entered the consciousness of U.S. managers and professionals in all fields. The suggestion offered here is to plan not for the "next job", but for entrepreneurship, at least as a contingency. Even more valuable, however , is to plan to start a business that can later be sold.
