| Abstract: | It would be hard to put together a more thorough review of US evidence on the internal labour market than Peter Cappelli has done. Perhaps because it is so comprehensive, the paper is rather hard to navigate. In his comment, Simon Miller tries to link the US debate with that going on in the UK. The author has four specific points concerning the paper directly: internal contradictions of the changes in employee management which Cappelli documents; extent versus speed of employment changes; implications for the inequality debate; and congruence of US and UK dialectics. |
